This became evident after the recent launch of the new Code Against Cancer by the European Commission, which has revealed the importance of diet for the prevention of this disease, one of the scourges of global health.

The aim of the new code is to ensure that deaths are reduced by 20% in Europe over a period of twelve years. To achieve this objective, member countries of the European Community shall implement the 11 recommendations that set the code, of which three are directly related to food.

Some general recommendations

In recent years, some studies about the relationship between food and cancer, have revealed some contradictory data but has established a relationship between the occurrence of some tumors and eating habits. Apparently, the importance of consumption of certain foods may be more harmful than heredity.

Eating fruit and vegetables in meals and reduce the intake of animal fats are essential dietary guidelines against this disease. Being overweight can have an adverse effect in all respects, but seems to be also directly related to the development of cancerous tumors. Regular consumption of alcoholic beverages is also very negative.

Leading a healthier life in general will help to prevent cancer diseases, in addition to many ills. Take into account factors such as the practice of daily exercise, regular reviews, avoid excessive exposure to sun. Will increase our quality and life expectancy.

Sugar and carbohydrates are not negative

Much has been speculated about the negative effects of excessive consumption of carbohydrates and sugars. Some studies seem to reveal a direct link between the abuse of both and colorectal cancer development.

In recent research, seems to be resolved that the consumption of sugar and carbohydrates is not negative, but the great enemies of our health in this regard are still animal fats.
