The Guarani Lapacho tea used to treat wounds, inflammation and even cancer
The Indian tradition inspires new drugs in the fight against cancer from the use of Lapacho tea, among other plants.
The scientific community takes into account the Indian custom of calling at certain natural preparations to treat various ailments. Thus, there have been numerous experiments to discover specifically which of all chemicals are benign, to extract, concentrate and purify. In this way, scientists are investigating the medicinal properties of lapacho, intended to alleviate certain diseases.
In a study reported in 1993, Claudia Cristina Perez Anesini and discovered that the bark of Lapacho extracts produced some of the most active. In 1999, Klaus Müller, Andreas Wolfgang Wiegrebe Sellman and found that their potent activity against the growth of human skin cells called keratinocytes, some components derived from lapacho promised to be effective against psoriasis, a disease that affects the skin and joints. In 2000 it was discovered that certain compounds showed anti-inflammatory properties. In 2003, the results suggested it might be effective for the development of new treatment strategies against infections that do not respond to conventional antibiotics.
