What is early detection or screening (screening) of a type of cancer?

Early detection or screening for cancer is the process of finding a certain type of cancer at an early stage even before he can cause any symptom. In some types of cancer, your doctor can evaluate which group of people has increased risk of developing a specific type of cancer because of family history, because of diseases that already had or because of the habits that have, like smoking, consume alcohol beverages or high-fat diet.

This is called risk factors and people who have these factors belong to a risk group. For these people, the doctor may suggest a particular test or test for early detection of cancer and what that should be repeated frequently this test or exam. For most cancers, the earlier (as earlier) cancer is diagnosed, the greater the chance of fighting the disease. (more…)

HPV and cervical cancer

Cancer servixThe main cause of cervical cancer is infection with HPV. HPV is the sexually transmitted disease more frequent today.

The man acts as a carrier of the disease without even knowing it, in most cases.

Infection occurs from sexual contact of a woman and a man carrying the virus that sowed in the lining of the cervix.

In most cases the defense systems, the agency charged with eliminating the virus and the infection resolves without sequelae.
But the misfortune is that the HPV virus has mechanisms to attach to epithelial cells and transform them into malignant cells.

The virus has a protein capsule that allows you to adhere to the epithelial cells of the cervix.

Cervical cancer begins to develop when the virus manages to insert its genes into the genes of the infected cell, so the virus remains while the cell is alive. (more…)

What Causes Cancer?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

The cause of cancer remains a great mystery to medicine and this article can help us rethink what we thought we knew. Want to know more about possible causes of cancer and what should be done to try to compensate for them?

What causes cancer?

Now it seems clear that no one has the answer to this question. The doctor responded to this question by explaining the mechanism of abnormal cell proliferation. They responded by explaining how but not why. “The factors or multiple causes,” says the most. But the reality is that every oncologist can answer that question satisfactorily.

To answer this question, I think, must be placed a little further. We must move away from the microscope to see clearly what was really sick, a person, not a cell. Someone with a life. A life that is probably what causes the disease. Life, perhaps sickly.

But let’s start from the beginning. Someone with a certain personality you live a certain life. Suddenly, one day you feel something is wrong and see a doctor. This makes a series of tests and concluded that this person has developed a disease called “cancer.” Person, this personality, and with life, has been produced in the body of cancer. There have been infected by a virus, or have an accident, or suffering from something innate, your body only has to send commands to a group of cells to multiply at an abnormal level and not die, thus creating what is called a “tumor. In turn, these tumors will nurture and grow without limit of time, destroying cells and even send a few cells elsewhere in the body, resulting in what is called “metastasis”. In short, the body, by itself, has started the process of self destruction. Because it is precisely what cancer, the process of self destruction.

Some Cancer-Causing Infection

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Some Cancer-Causing Infection40 percent of cancers can be prevented and 20 per cent is associated with viral or bacterial infection that can cause stomach cancer, uterine or liver disease, said today in the Spanish oncology expert at the World Cancer Day night.
Director of the Master Plan of Oncology in Barcelona, Josep Maria Borras said that 40 percent of all cancers could be prevented by vaccines, changes in lifestyle and diet, and lead a healthy lifestyle.
In a press conference on the next occasion of the World Day against Cancer, Borras showed that survival has increased over the years and have reduced the possibility of death from cancer thanks to new treatment, which also improve the quality of life of patients.
For this expert, one big improvement from the last 15 years has found that some types of cancer associated with infection, and provide a potential vaccine for prevention and care, such as Helicobacter pylori (HP).

Green Tea for Cancer Prevention

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

A team of researchers studied the use of green tea for cancer prevention because he suspected that the antioxidants protect the entry of the deadly disease, especially because it will include bacterial attack substances associated with stomach tumors.

But earlier studies did not obtain conclusive results, they write in the journal Gut. To better understand the real effects of green tea, Dr M. Inoue, National Cancer Center in Tokyo, and colleagues reviewed six of their previous works.

Together, the studies involving more than 219,000 men and women 40 years and older, which followed more than seven to 11 years. Four out of five respondents say they drink green tea every day; third drank five or more cups per day.

During follow up, approximately 2,500 of the nearly 100,000 people and about 1,000 from more than 118,000 female participants developed stomach cancer. (more…)

Integrate them as much as possible.

Fundamental characteristics of cancer-fighting foods

1. Olive oil:

The monounsaturated fats protect the colon-rectum cancer. By working on bile acids, olive oil reduce the risk of gastrointestinal mucosal growth. Do not forget that the arteries remain flexible to improve circulation and oxygenation of the entire network.

2. Water:

There is food, but we can not live without it. Water makes your cells alive, regulate many functions and help to eliminate toxins through urine and feces.

3. Garlic and onions:

How to Prevent Urinary Tract Infections

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

One in five women experience pain urinary tract infection. This is certainly quite worrying not only of the woman alone. The men also would not worry if it is not immediately overcome.
Cranberry juice is not the only foods that can provide protection against certain diseases. Here is a list of foods that can protect men and women, especially given that the disease or some other attack.

1. Tomato sauce

Men who eat a lot of tomatoes or tomato sauce could be to protect against prostate cancer, according to Harvard University researchers who studied the eating habits of 47,000 health professionals, men. They found that men who ate tomato sauce two to four times per week have a risk of 35 percent lower than that to get prostate cancer than those who do not consume. A carotenoid called lycopene, abundant in tomatoes, seems to be responsible. But some doctors puzzled: tomato juice did not seem to offer the same protection. The reason, as other studies have shown that lycopene is better absorbed if cooked with some kind of fat.

2. Oysters

A myth that says oysters are the food of love. Maybe science agrees. Only two or three oysters per day provides the daily amount of zinc is needed for the functioning reproductive system of men. There is controversy among scientists because of several studies showing that sperm counts have declined over the past 50 years due to environmental factors. Malnutrition would cause some cases of low testosterone levels. Sometimes the solution is to eat more zinc. (We recommend 11 mg per day for men, more than 40 can be very dangerous.) In an experiment, 22 subjects who had low testosterone levels and reduced sperm counts were given zinc every day for 45-50 days. Both testosterone and sperm increased. (more…)

Studies show edition was published in the journal Nature, the scientists say where the victim cell stress signals that promote tumor that affects the generation of healthy cells around it.
The study was conducted on fruit flies, but studies show that the same genes and the same biological sequences involved in this process present in humans.

So far, it is known that chronic inflammation, the main cause of stress, associated with tumor growth in cancer patients and some experts argue that the negative emotions, stress hormones, inflammation and cancer may be related to each other, although there is no clear evidence.

There is also a consensus that cancer-causing genetic mutation affecting only individual cells, but these studies show that this does not always happen, as various mutations in different cells can collaborate with each other in the generation and development of tumors. (more…)
